the less-romantic, more-pragmatic alternative to: "honey, i love you and would like to spend my entire life with you.."

went out with nana and her friend, jew yesterday. my best friend shocked me when she mentioned the cash downpayment for hdb flats would be increased to 40~50% come 2008. i almost choked on my meal and repeated "are you sure?" like a broken tape recording in utter disbelief. at the back of my mind i know there has to be a miscommunication of info somewhere. but at that time, my brain was in overdrive wondering how to cheat im into marrying me the sooner, the better so that we could buy a flat before 2008 and escape that ungodly-huge downpayment. it didnt help that the topic of the day was about how dreary and bleak life was - all of that successfully grant me a throbbing headache.

but anyways, heres the deal.

the initial downpayment for hdb flat was revised last year, down to 10% from the initial 20% previously. and of this 10%, half must be paid in cash. wef 2008, all 10% must be in cash. but if you are under hdb loan scheme, then the downpayment could be made using your cpf. why do i talk so much? go click:
