of otak-otaks and the using your brains

if there's one thing i want to do this break, its to learn how to make otak-otak. yep, you heard me, right. i have not gone off my rocker. this urgency surpasses that of a well-deserved overseas trip, believe you me. mackerel otak-otak. yummy. i can't stand having to buy measly spoonfuls of otak-otak for 3 a dollar. not when a 5-dollar worth of otahs can't satisfy my stomach. i'm scouring the Net for good otak-otak recipe. if and when i am successful, i have grand visions of digging in to otak-otaks for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

on a different note, my laptop is officially dead. its death cert is being rolled out right about now. my darling laptop is now reduced to a 40 gig external hard disk drive. a downgrade of more than 2k. its so shaming i had to cup my face in my hands, shake my head and weep.
i sent it in for revival only to have it returned to me 3 weeks later (yesh, the service is that bad) with the technician commenting the repair work is too tedious for him and he gave up even before he started. imagine that. the technical dept quoted me $280 at first, only to up it to a whopping $800 later.
and for the record, i can't stand the technical rep. she couldn't understand english for nuts and i was reduced to speaking in caveman-language the whole time with her. forget the 'pleases' and 'could yous', drop even the connectives and fillers. just get the message across and concentrate on the nouns and verbs.. oh sheesh..
i tell you what- you wanna hire a customer service officer, make sure they've got a credit for english, can? basic rule in a multi-lingual society.
please.
use your brains.
