brownie points

I've been putting this off for the longest time ever since I chanced upon a mouth-watering photo of a gloriously dark brownie over the net 1 plus month ago. The desire was curbed for a while when nana offered me her mum's perfectly baked brownie over lunch some weeks back.

Last weekend, the need to satiate the craving for cocoa beans finally took its toll on me and resurfaced with a vengeance with no intention for penance nor remorse for the calorie-king. Armed with a trusty laptop, a pencil at hand and the back of a calendar for a writing pad, I scoured the net for a promising brownie recipe ladened with rich flavonoids. No sooner than when I got my pencil on paper, nana called me to say she's ready to go off to gym, her 'probably before lunchtime' turned out to be '1030 in the glorious, early morning'.
technically, she's not wrong, though.

4 hours later (late but nonetheless), armed with my make-believe apron (for armour) and a spatula (my weapon of choice), I waged a war on calorie-counting damsels with this:

If you have an inclination to pick on your food, toss them around and then finally decide to eat the scraps for fear of good-ol' yummylicious calories, then may i suggest you reserve a corner seat over there and nibble on your weight-watchers.

this ain't a recipe for the faint-hearted.
this brownie promises crispy crackly top and fudgy, moist center. Skimp not on the ingredients, then devour it with relish.

fudgy brownies
125g salted butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup chopped almond (optional)
1 tsp vanila essence 4 oz (approx 110g)
semi-sweet baking chocolate (i use hersheys. if you know of better chocolate brands available in sg, lemme know)
directions: shift the flour, baking powder and salt. melt the butter and chocolate in a pan. turn off the stove. add in the sugar and vanilla essence. stir in the eggs one by one. lastly add in the flour mix and chopped almond and give a good stir. pour into baking tray that has been lined with aluminium foil and butter. bake for 20 mins at 180C.

immediately after taking the tray out of the oven, plunge it into a bigger container filled with ice water. this is supposed to add fudginess to the whole affair.
