almond tuiles

crispy, macam keropok. yum.
definitely a keeper, if only i just knew how to spread them on the baking paper with greater ease. sometimes i thnk baking is therapeutic. other times i know its just my menggatal tendency.
i ran outta chopped almond midway, so i drizzled some baking chocolates on top to (more than) make up for it.
note: if anyone asks why the baking chocolate resembles a chinese inscription, tell them, 'its just art'.
share them with others if you're feeling generous, or devour them yourselves (which wouldnt be too hard, really.)

have fun.

almond tuiles

4 egg whites
225g icing sugar
100g almond powder
180g plain flour
150g softened butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
chopped almonds and baking chocolate to drizzle on top (optional)

directions: mix the sugar, vanilla essence and softened butter. add the egg whites a little at a time. pour in the almond powder (blend your almonds to get this) and sieved plain flour lightly til its well-mixed. spread thinly on greased baking sheet, to a size you are comfortable with. bake at 175C for 5 minutes till crispy and golden brown. remove from baking sheet with a metal spatula. roll it into love-lettered shapes while hot and maleable( i just skipped this part entirely. have you any idea how freaking hot they are?)
voila.
