making the cut

3 cuts in 3 weeks, no less.
more about that when i feel like talking.

i.feel.so.liberated. its a case of having a load of my shoulder (hurhur), and with the exception of my brother with his, "what happened to your hair?" comment -_-, rest of the folks have been pretty positive. its a refreshing change to say the least, and its something that i have been itching for, for the past 10 months. but only recently had the chance of snipping this frazzled mop amidst the frenzy exams and even more fervent period of post-exams.

in the years following my attempt to tame this frizzy thing (which at times have demonstrated to having a life of its own), i have hopped from one salon to the next, each with renewed hopes of finding that elusive hair place with hairdressers who dont scare you with their flamboyant, fried, dyed and dry hair sticking outta the top of their heads- which needless to say, get you all worried about the state of hair YOU will end up with, after doing a quick once-over of these walking adverts.

or that elusive place where the hairdressers speak at least intelligible english, so that you wont have to resort to punctuating 90% of your sentences with a fake mandarin slang and singlish concoction and accessorising them with hand actions mimicking (desperately), your intended message.
(i do speak singlish, but never have i soo consciously tried harder to do so other than in salons.)

or finding that hair place where 2 stylists will not be hovering directly above your head, all the while speaking in a foreign tongue, contemplating about the state of your hair, oblivious to the fact that you're picking up on their conversations and is getting none too impress by the moment.

or finding a spot where the stylists do not immediately and persistently coax you into doing some 'layered' hair style that you so hate. and you, being the big pushover that you are, caves in-after much nervous giggling and fear of provoking the scissorshands-they are the ones with the weapons, after all.

back on track.

the first cut/rebonding (again! so predictable) session left me with severely layered chops was almost just as long (no one could tell the difference, really). and no matter what i did, i couldnt shake the feeling of looking like an 80's ah-lian with hair that has been horrendously 'sisik-ed' by the razor. the end was so much thinner than the top. -_-

so 2 weeks later, i went to another shop to chop my locks shoulder-length.
with strictly no layers.
except, after that, i felt so much like a broomhead. no joke.

so 2 days later, i went to yet another salon and asked him to introduce a little bit of life to this walking broom.

its nothing life-altering nor the least bit adventurous, but....
finally. eric of jantzen - thank you!
(heaves a big sigh of relief)

ps: the eye bags are visibly double the size of the double eyelids (which arent even visible). the irony is not lost on me.
